The Summer 2026 issue of Toronto Metropolitan University Magazine focuses on the impact of Dr. Mohamed Lachemi and the legacy he leaves as his tenure as President and Vice-Chancellor of TMU comes to an end. The feature package tells the story of where he came from, how that informed what he brought to the role, and how the people, buildings, and ethos of the university evolved under his leadership.
We asked Jennifer Roberts to photograph Mohamed where he devoted so much of the past decade: on campus, in his office, and walking along Gould Street surrounded by the energy of students, faculty, and the university community.
The issue also explores a naturally occurring sugar that may be better for human health—the perfect chance for us to go bright and playful with an illustration by Melanie Lambrick—five grads running an innovative aerospace company, and other news and highlights on- and off-campus.
