University of Toronto Magazine, Spring 2019

The Spring 2019 issue of the University of Toronto Magazine is the second since we redesigned it last fall. The publication aims to unite alumni, donors and friends in support of the university’s mission to educate global citizens and discover new knowledge.

This issue marked the culmination of the Boundless campaign, and sent a simple but sincere “thank you” to all the institutions supporters and donors. The cover was expertly crafted by Nim Ben-Reuven.

Nim also lent his talent to the Reasons We’re Grateful package opener, which is packed information, excitement and wonderful contributors.

Sandy Nicholson photographed Prof. Paul Santerre, who is leading a team of researchers at the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research. Steph Martyniuk photographed some of out biggest heroes: four-year old Iris Chan who is using Trexo’s robotic device; Samra Zafar and her mentee Sabeen; Sara Wolfe, an Indigenous Midwife involved with the Baby Bundle Project. Elena Xausa illustrated everything from a massively multi-tasking robot to a junk food playground to the creative ways you’re giving to the University of Toronto. Yasin Osman followed Bahia Marks and members of the Junior Youth Empowerment Program around Toronto’s St. James Town. Nick Iwanyshyn traipsed around campus capturing the new facilities erected as a result of the campaign. Ian Patterson snagged a couple portraits for us as well.

In the back of the book, you’ll find incredible contributions by Mathilde Aubier, David Sparshott, Paul Weeks, Sam Island and Lucy Lu.
